100,000 UAH for 6 chairs
We sold a set of six Johann Kohn chairs for this amount at the opening of the ‘SITZMASCHINE’ exhibition, thanks to the first public auction held to raise funds for the rehabilitation of soldier Oleksandr Latkіvskyi.
Oleksandr has been defending his homeland since the days of the ATO. In 2014, whilst defending Luhansk Airport, their armoured personnel carrier hit a mine, and he sustained his first injury. After treatment, Oleksandr returned to service and continued to defend the country.
In 2021, he left the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but with the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022, he returned to active duty and took up the post of commander of the reconnaissance platoon of the 107th Brigade, 92nd Battalion.
In July 2023, whilst carrying out a combat mission near Bakhmut, a cluster munition exploded next to him. Oleksandr sustained severe injuries: shrapnel wounds to the head, an open head injury, two open fractures of the legs, lacerations to internal organs and numerous shrapnel fragments throughout his body.
Since then, he has been undergoing long-term rehabilitation, fighting every day for the chance to return to a full life. During his years of service, he was awarded the Order of Courage and the Steel Cross by Valerii Zaluzhnyi.
We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to this important cause and, in doing so, helped Oleksandr continue on his path to recovery.
